How we're making a difference

At The Chalkboard Agency, we create educational video lessons crafted by educators with over 25 years of experience. Our content focuses on helping students build resilience, emotional intelligence, and confidence through collaborative and supportive ideas. Using a "back to the basics" approach to video storytelling, our lessons are designed to be easily accessible and affordable for busy educators and impactful for their students. We believe great character starts with simple, powerful stories — ready for the classroom and beyond.

Kevin Ozar, COO

Kevin Ozar always wanted to be a teacher. Growing up as the oldest of three boys on Detroit’s East Side, he attended the University of Dayton, where he majored in Education and History with a minor in English. After earning his certifications to teach both English and History, Kevin embarked on a teaching career that spanned grades 6-12 in Metro Detroit. He pursued a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning from Marygrove College in Detroit and taught in East Detroit and Farmington Hills, Michigan. He was honored twice as Teacher of the Year by the senior class at North Farmington High School, and in 2008, he was named Oakland County Teacher of the Year. He taught a range of subjects including English, History, Drama, journalism, leadership, AP courses, and everything in between. After serving as an instructional coach for a few years, he concluded his career by helping to open the Farmington STEAM Academy, a non-merit K-8 public school. He has been a senior class advisor, coach, mentor and even a stagehand one or twice. Kevin became a lead trainer for the Boomerang Project in 2006, working with teachers and students to improve school cultures and enhance student engagement. In that role, he has conducted countless training sessions for adults and collaborated with nearly 10,000 adult educators to foster positive cultures and student leadership in their schools. He has also facilitated hundreds of student leadership conferences and retreats, empowering and inspiring young people to realize their potential and be the change they want to see in their communities. He has given a TedX talk and has worked with school staff in both Kenya and American Samoa, introducing modern teaching techniques while also learning how different cultures approach education and youth. Now retired from the classroom, Kevin travels around the world, working with people of all ages to build positive culture and relationships, celebrating that everyone has their own story to share and that fun should be part of every day. He has collaborated with schools globally, often creating customized programs to meet the needs of students and communities. He produces podcasts and YouTube shorts and co-founded the Blume AV Club during the pandemic to assist teachers navigating digital and distance learning. Kevin serves on the board of directors for the nonprofit Friends of Kenyan Orphans, an organization dedicated to housing and educating orphaned and abandoned children in East Africa. Every other year, he travels to Kenya to work with the schools there, visit with students and teachers, and help in any way he can to bring educational opportunities to the most vulnerable individuals. He also sits on the curriculum review council for Grosse Pointe Public Schools.
